Details and Events

As the weather continues to improve, the evenings get lighter, and the first of the boats are in the water, the Sailing Committee has finalised the details for this season's racing programme. This promises to be an exhilarating season with a variety of events and races to look forward to.

Sailing Calendar

All aspects of the sailing calendar can be found here: The Calendar. This comprehensive guide will ensure you do not miss any of the exciting events planned for this season.

Documentation

The essential documentation, which includes the Sailing Instructions (SIs), courses lists, the Race Mark chart, and the details of our sponsors, and handicaps is available through merseasailing.com or here. This documentation is crucial for all participants to familiarise themselves with, ensuring smooth and fair races.

May Events

There are four major events in May that mark the beginning of our season:

The Pattinson Cup Weekend

Dates: 10th and 11th May

This weekend-long event is the first EAORA race of this season. Links can be found in the sailing calendar. Sailors compete for the prestigious Pattinson Cup, a test of skill and strategy offshore. EAORA are trying to increase the number of competitors this season and, as the Pattinson Cup is one of the WMYC sponsored races, it would be great if we were able to add a few more of our boats to the start line.

The Bradwell Shakedown Cruise

Dates: 10th and 11th May

This event is organised by our cruising in company group. It is a great opportunity for sailors to get back into the groove of the sailing season in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The Spring Regatta

Dates: 17th and 18th May

The Spring Regatta is one of the most anticipated events of the season. Start times are as per the Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions (SI's). It also marks the first party of the year, and we are hoping for some great weather to accompany the festivities. Entries for the Spring Regatta will open on Friday, 18th April. Please sign up here to secure your participation.

After racing, meals will be served at the club. This is a wonderful opportunity for participants to relax, mingle, and enjoy some delicious food after a day on the water.

The menu

Fish Pie with Veg

Meat Lasagne with chips and salad

Vegetable Lasagne with chips and salad

Each priced at £12.50 per meal

Book your meal on line, payment on the day

Titchmarsh and Shotley Cruise

Dates: 24th and 25th May

Organized by our cruising in company group, this cruise is another great occasion to enjoy sailing in a beautiful and relaxed setting.

We encourage all our members to mark these dates in their diaries as the start of what promises to be a fantastic sailing season. We look forward to seeing you on the water and participating.
