Season Opener series Race One

The first combined keelboat race of the season "Season Opener One" took place on Sunday 4th for the White sail and Local handicap boats. We were utilising our new system and we are pleased to say that the on line facilities worked smoothly.
The day started with a wind speed of 4 to 5 knots from 300 degrees, and 8 boats had entered using the on line facility. Two boats dropped out before the start and one boat suffered from a flat battery. We did however welcome four boats to the line three local handicap (two Sonatas) and one White sail. With the wind light but a slack tide a course was set with a reaching/running start to number 17. For the entire race the boats were close with Parody leading the Sonata's home. Touchpaper could just not get far enough away to finish ahead of the Sonata's.
With only one White sail boat starting Clockwise was able to benefit from the new rule 35 of the RRS. They sailed the course inside the time limit and as such got a first place.
Congratulations everyone and we look forward to seeing everyone next week with a few more.
